Filter holder

The bottom of the dripper has three distinctive conical protrusions that can hold the paper filter in place. This allows for flow rates not available with other flatbed drippers.

Air pocket

The "air pockets" on the outer base help circulate the air and make each brew consistent to produce clean, clean coffee.

Differences from the ceramic Kalita Wave dripper 

The Kalita Wave Dripper is one of the flat bottom drippers that has a structure very similar to the April dripper. By design, Kalita drippers are said to not have enough space for air to circulate around the filter during the extraction process.

There are also small ribs on the bottom of the dripper, but they are not high enough to lift the filter and the filter sticks to the bottom, which can create a vacuum. This makes the extraction time longer and over-extracts, adding a negative flavor to the coffee.

From this point of view, the April dripper has adopted a unique design of filter holder and air pocket.
